SolarGaps
The world's first smart solar blinds.
About the Company
SolarGaps produces innovative smart blinds with built-in solar elements. These blinds automatically track the sun's position throughout the day to maximize energy generation while also providing shade and reducing cooling costs. The energy generated can be used to power devices, stored in a battery, or sent back to the grid.
SolarGaps was invented by Yevgen Erik, a Ukrainian entrepreneur. Living in a high-rise apartment, he wanted to utilize solar energy but lacked a suitable roof for traditional panels. This personal challenge inspired him to create a solution that could be installed on any window. The idea was to turn the vast surface area of building facades into a source of renewable energy, empowering apartment dwellers and office workers to generate their own power.
SolarGaps gained initial traction through highly successful crowdfunding campaigns on Kickstarter and Indiegogo, which validated market demand. Following this, the company secured seed funding from private investors and grants, including support from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). The funding has enabled SolarGaps to scale up production and expand its distribution network globally.
The company's last funding round valued the company at approximately **$10 million**.
